Man charged in car wash shooting near 42nd, Prospect

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Prosecutors have charged a 34-year-old man in connection to shooting at a car wash near 42nd Street and Prospect Avenue on Sunday.

Timothy T. McClendon has been charged with first-degree murder and a felony count of armed criminal action.

McClendon's shooting of Jose O. Jenkins was captured on video cameras at a nearby business, court documents stated.

According to court documents, the victim initially shot a gun at McClendon, who took off running. McClendon returned fire and hit Jenkins, who could not stand after being wounded. McClendon then walked to his vehicle, reloaded his gun and fired multiple shots at the victim. He fired from his vehicle which he pulled up next to the victim.

An autopsy found about 22 gunshot wounds in the victim's head, neck and torso.

Prosecutors have recommended a $500,000 cash bond.
