Wendy's and KCTV5 have partnered together to showcase high schools for their amazing achievements and community service projects.
KCTV5's Its Your Morning and KCTV5 Meteorologist Iris Hermosillo will showcase an extraordinary high school each Friday during the school year as a "Wendy's Cool School of the Week." Viewers submit schools that they believe deserve the honor and the selections are made from those nominations.
Each school showcases six different clubs or community service projects. Athletic achievements are excluded from the criteria.

Mike Hotchkiss, director of area operations for Wendy's, said he is excited about the third year of the program.
"We want to acknowledge and celebrate all the achievements at our local schools with the students and faculty," Hotchkiss said. "We know that sports activities generate a lot of enthusiasm throughout the school system. We want to also feature the students' excitement about the other activities that they're passionate about."
Hotchkiss said he loves seeing how pumped up the students are when KCTV5 It's Your Morning kicks off at 5 a.m.
The atmosphere is similar to a pep rally with school bands, cheerleaders and dance teams participating. Hotchkiss said the students' pride for their clubs and activities is contagious.
"I enjoy talking to the students about their clubs, activities and especially their school pride in being the Cool School of the Week," Hotchkiss said.
He said he is looking forward to seeing what innovative programs and activities will be featured during the upcoming school year. He said the best part is this helps the communities and prepares students for the future.
Each high school selected as a Wendy's Cool School of the Week receives a trophy and is entered to win a $2,500 scholarship, which is awarded to the Cool School of the Year.
Platte County High School was the Cool School of the Year for 2010-2011.
