Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash on a road known for multiple fatal accidents.

Police say the fatal wreck at 20th Street and Sterling around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said an officer observed a motorcycle rider traveling westbound on 23rd Street at a high rate of speed approaching Northern Boulevard. The officer also observed the motorcycle start skidding and switching lanes almost causing a traffic accident with another westbound vehicle at the intersection of 23rd Street and Northern.

Police said shortly after the motorcycle ran through the intersection of 20th Street and Northern headed eastbound, failing to stop at a posted stop sign at a high rate of speed. Another police officer, who happened to be sitting stationary at the intersection, observed the incident. At approximately 11:15 p.m., before the officer could catch up to the motorcycle, it had already crashed at the intersection of 20th Street and Sterling Avenue.
