KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
The Kansas City Bulldogs are made up of boys from kindergarten through seventh grade. It's an inner city league that needs the public's help.
The football team started nearly ten years ago, taking kids from throughout the metro and giving them a chance to play some football.
Through the game, Coach Steve Brown said he's able to teach critical life lessons and give a lot of kids a chance to flourish through teamwork.
The team is in dire need of helmets and pads for its young athletes. They're going to try and raise about $10,000 from donations and through hosting fish dinners.
Brown said he is continually amazed by the boys and doesn't ever want to see an end to the program.
"The team means a lot to me. Each member of the team I look as one of my own kids. The reason I started the league back in 2003 was because I noticed the underachievement and lack of discipline from our youth in the community," said Brown.
