LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) -

After a person is found dead in a burned out home in Iowa, investigators are now turning to the Kansas City area for answers.

Police in Warren County, IA, are still trying to figure out how a missing elderly couple's truck ended up in Liberty, MO.

The couple went missing after fire crews found their home engulfed in flames late Saturday night.

Police are looking for Bill Wood, 79, and his wife, Kay Wood, 72, neither of whom have been seen since Saturday when they were attending a local Warren County auction.

Late Saturday night, fire crews discovered their home engulfed in flames and one body inside the home.

Police say they have not been able to confirm if either of them was inside the home at the time of the fire or what sparked the flames.

According to police, it could take more than a month to identify the burned body.

Police say after the fire, they noticed the couple's truck was missing. After Iowa police tracked down the truck through OnStar, they asked Kansas City police to check it out at the Cordella Ranch apartment complex near 83rd Street and Donnely near Liberty.

That is where Kansas City police positively tied the truck to the missing couple.

Investigators are still working to patch together the pieces Wednesday, and figure out where this couple is.

If anybody knows how the truck got to the Cordella Ranch apartments, or has any information about it, police are asking people to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
