The impact of the heat has canceled the last four waves of the Warrior Dash on Sunday.

Alex Yount with the Warrior Dash says, on the advice of their medical teams, the last four sets of participants were not allowed to run the race course.

The number of people treated for heat related concerns was not available.

The three-mile competition is more than just a race. There are a dozen obstacles like mud and fire pits.

Runners also swim for a portion of the course, and crawl over and through several other obstacles.

For those who made the finish, say it felt good to see the finish line.

"When you think about the ability to come out here, have a good time and get some exercise, it was a lot harder than we all thought," said Chris Thomas.

Full refunds will be given to those who were scheduled in the last waves, and those participants would have the opportunity to race in other contests across the country.

This is the first time in the history of the games they have canceled for heat.

About 15,000 people signed up to take part in the games this weekend in Kansas City.
