Kansas City Chiefs star Dexter McCluster got his groove on Wednesday night at Jerry's Bait Shop in Lenexa to help raise money for tornado victims in Joplin.
"My message is, 'never quit.' You might go through some obstacles in life that might be devastating, you might lose a person or something important to you, but you should never quit, because there is a higher purpose and everything happens for a reason," said McCluster. "You don't know why, but pretty soon you will find out."
McCluster also let KCTV5 know what he has been doing while the players and owners try to figure out the NFL's labor issues.
"Keeping in shape during the off season ... I mean it's kind of tough not knowing when you are going to be back," said McCluster.
"You have to be disciplined and know the big picture that any moment you can be called to come back to football. We are doing things to stay focused and keep going. So lockout - you should end soon!"
