Justin Schmidt - KCTV5

Justin Schmidt joined the KCTV5 news team in September 2009.

He grew up in McPherson, Kan. He graduated in 2003 from the University of Kansas' journalism school. During his time in college, Justin worked for the University Daily Kansan as a sports reporter. He also worked as a reporter and photographer for KUJH-TV.

After graduation, he moved to Denver where he worked for three years and enjoyed skiing. He returned to Kansas and joined the staff at KTKA-TV in Topeka where he worked as a photographer, reporter and sports anchor.

Justin is married and father to twins, Owen and Olivia, who were born in 2010. Parenting takes up most of his time away from the newsroom, but he enjoys golfing, cycling, skiing and snowboarding. He is an avid Jayhawk fan.
