Shawnee police ran a check lane in the northbound lane of Quivira Road at 76th Street Thursday night to try and get information about a killing last month.
The checkpoint ran from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and was near the Mr. G's Liquor store, where Gerry Grovenburg was murdered inside the store May 12. The 61-year-old Grovenburg was the store owner.
Police officials said they were trying to stop motorists on the same day and around the same time the murder occurred, so they might be able to talk to someone who saw something the night Grovenburg was killed.
Police ask anyone with information on the killing to call the TIPS hot line at 816-474-TIPS. There is currently a reward for tips leading to an arrest in the case.
