FAIRWAY, Kan. -- The DTV transition date for KCTV5 has officially been switched to June 12.The original date was Feb. 17, but Congress pushed the date back to allow Americans more time to get converter boxes. The general manager of KCTV5 and My KSMO-TV, Kirk Black, explained why the stations decided to delay the switch even though they were ready to go."Unfortunately, because of some delays in the convertor coupon program, there were individuals who couldn't get the $40 to help buy the converter boxes, and Congress is going to infuse some new funding into that program so that hopefully between now and June 12, everyone that's out there that's eligible for a converter box will have time and opportunity to get the coupon and use it and will be more prepared, better prepared for the switch on the 12th," Black said.Again, people who weren't ready for the digital transition are getting a bit more time, but it's time to get hooked up.There's no reason for those planning to buy digital converter boxes to wait.Hook up now and enjoy a clear, digital picture. For more information, click here.
