KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- If Kansas State wanted another shot at the University of Kansas this season, they got exactly what they asked for.Kansas State was able to use clutch shooting to dispatch Baylor 82-75 in the Big 12 tournament semifinals and set up a showdown with KU in the Big 12 championship at 5 p.m. Saturday. The Wildcats may be playing their best heading into their third matchup against the Jayhawks, which will makr their first ever Big 12 championship appearance."We wanted to win the regular season Big 12, and we felt like we lost it at Kansas," K-State guard Jacob Pullen said. "We just want a chance to get a ring. Denis never got a ring. I never got a ring. I don't think Frank's got one. I want to get one while we're here. That's our goal right now."On Friday, Kansas State was able to battle back after being down in the first half and then fend off a pesky Baylor team that tied the score up late in the game.K-State used big efforts by guards Jacob Pullen and Denis Clemente and used one of their forwards to add offensive fire power. On Friday, Dominique Sutton showed his versatility, scoring 14 points and grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds. One of his biggest plays came in the opening play of the second half when he stuffed home a dunk while being fouled.Kansas State coach Frank Martin said Sutton struggled at the end of the regular season."He had a bad last week of the season," Martin said. "I don't know why. He's had a great year for us. ... That's a guy making a play that has an unbelievable desire to win."In the Wildcats last matchup against KU, only Pullen and Clemente scored in double figures and the K-State front line was outplayed by KU.Friday's win may be good practice for K-State's Curtis Kelly, as he guarded one of the top big men in America in Baylor center Ekpe Udoh. Udoh went for 18 points and 11 rebounds. On Saturday, Kelly will likely take the assignment of guarding KU's Cole Aldrich.Kelly compared guarding the two top big men in the Big 12."Udoh is more athletic and he's going to try and go around you more," Kelly said. "Cole is more physical, so I have to be aware of that."On Friday, Kelly helped force Udoh into foul trouble in the second half, something he said he wanted to do."I told Denis to get me the ball down low so I can force him to play me, and that's what he did," Kelly said. While Kansas City may be more than ready for a third game between the rival schools, Kansas State helped its positioning in the NCAA tournament with its second win over a solid team. Baylor came in with the No. 7 RPI in the nation and will likely be a tough out for anyone in the NCAA tournament.Martin said he thinks his team's play in the past two days shows his team deserves respect."I think we've played the top five schedule in the country," Martin said. "You're in the number one RPI league and you're the second best team in the league. I think you deserve a little more credit that the so-called talking heads are trying to give our kids."Martin's team may be able to silence all the talking heads with a win over their long-time nemesis Saturday.
