Last-Minute Ticket Push Beats Blackout Deadline

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs have beaten the blackout deadline and their game Sunday against the Buffalo bills will air as planned on local television.The Chiefs faced a Friday noon deadline to sell out the stadium or face their first local television blackout since the 1990 season.As late as Wednesday the Chiefs were reporting that they had 3,500 tickets remaining to sell or they would face a blackout. The game will air Sunday on KCTV5 at noon.This would have been the first time a Chiefs home game was blacked out since Dec. 16, 1990. Kansas City has not seen a local blackout for 155 straight games.NFL officials said that 15 games have been blacked out in the league this season. They said fans in Jacksonville have not had a home game on local TV all year.
