KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Thomas will have his jersey retired at a ceremony on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs have announced.Thomas' No. 58 jersey will be retired during a ceremony at halftime of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs are encouraging fans to wear their No. 58 jerseys to honor Thomas.Thomas was enshrined as part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2009 in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 8. He will be the 10th player in franchise history to have his jersey retired.Thomas was the fourth overall selection in the 1989 NFL draft out of the University of Alabama. He was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and holds several Chiefs records. He is a member of the NFL's All-Decade Team from the 1990s.Thomas died in his hometown of Miami, Fla., on Feb. 8, 2000, after he was involved in a serious auto accident in Kansas City on Jan. 23, 2000. He was buried in his hometown of Miami on Feb. 19, 2000.
