San Jose Sharks (5-3-1) At Detroit Red Wings (7-2-1), 7:30 P.m.

(Sports Network) - Both Detroit and Henrik Zetterberg will try to extend their respective streaks tonight, as the Red Wings host the San Jose Sharks at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit has won its last three games, including a 3-2 victory over Vancouver on Wednesday. Henrik Zetterberg assisted on one of Tomas Holmstrom's two goals to extend his point streak to 10 games. Zetterberg has posted a point in each one of the Red Wings' games this season, amassing seven goals and 11 assists in that span.

Matt Ellis had the other goal and Dominik Hasek stopped 13 shots for Detroit, which was without forward Dallas Drake. Drake was placed on injured reserve Thursday due to a broken cheekbone.

In addition, Hasek is now out indefinitely due to a sore hip. After placing Drake on IR, the Red Wings recalled Jimmy Howard from Grand Rapids of the AHL to backup netminder Chris Osgood.

Tonight is the second of back-to-back home games for Detroit, and the club is 4-1-0 at Joe Louis Arena this season. The Red Wings will next play three straight on the road.

The Sharks have won two in a row and three of their last four after topping Calgary, 4-1, on Monday. Milan Michalek netted a pair of goals -- one shorthanded -- in the victory to give him a team-high six on the season.

Evgeni Nabokov made 18 saves for the Sharks, giving him a very good 2.16 goals-against average through nine games.

Steve Bernier and Ryane Clowe tallied for the Sharks, while Jeremy Roenick added a pair of assists in the win. Roenick is still two goals shy from joining the 500-goal club for his career.

The victory kicked off a four-game road trip on the right foot for the Sharks, who are 4-1-1 as the visitor this season.

The Red Wings defeated the Sharks, 4-2, when the clubs met in San Jose on October 18, though the Sharks have still won four of the last seven regular season meetings in the series.

Of course, Detroit did eliminate San Jose in the Western Conference semifinals last season.

San Jose is just 1-8 with a tie in its last 10 trips to Detroit, not including the playoffs.
