THE SCRIPT CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED AND VOTING WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH THE END OF NOVEMBER.
Not wearing seat belts, impaired driving, and driving aggressively are serious problems on our roads. These things cause many injuries and hundreds of deaths in the Kansas City region each year.
Create your own original concept for a TV public service ad to raise awareness and inspire people to be safe on our roads. If you win, your ad could be your ticket to experience the KCTV5 suite at a future Kansas City Chiefs game. And the winning ad will be professionally produced and aired on TV. See your idea go from script to screen.
You don't have to be an advertiser, writer, artist or photographer to create an effective safety message. Just grab a pen and paper or sit down at a computer and tell a story that could be turned into a public service ad. A story with an emotional connection can be a powerful and memorable way of bringing a message to life. Put yourself in the place of someone whose life has been negatively affected by driving without a safety belt, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or in an aggressive way. What would it take to change someone's behavior at the wheel? A ticket or jail time? Injury or death? Loss of respect from someone you care about?
QUICK RULES
- The final public service ad on safety will be about 30 seconds long. Keep that length in mind as you're creating your ad.
- Ads must address at least one of three safety issues:
- You can turn in anything from a simple concept to a fully developed script with examples of the images and video that should go with it. The more detail you include, the easier it will be for others to understand your vision and message. Make your entry as creative and descriptive as possible. Use the contest script template as a guide, but feel free to go even further to get your idea across!
