(Sports Network) - The Kansas City Chiefs named Mark Donovan executive vice president and chief operating officer on Thursday.

Donovan comes to the Chiefs after spending the last six seasons as senior vice president of business operations for the Philadelphia Eagles.

"We are very excited to have Mark join our team," said team chairman Clark Hunt in a statement. "Mark's track record of success in the business of the NFL has earned the respect and praise of the entire league."

During his tenure in Philadelphia, Donovan spearheaded the club's efforts in sponsorship, sales, media production, retail operations and new media strategy to boost the team's profile and brand. Prior to that, he was the NFL's senior director of sales and marketing, and began his career as director of sales and marketing for the National Hockey League.

Donovan is a native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Brown University.
