OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Colin Goodwin has to turn in his company leased Chevy Impala later this week, so the timing couldn't have be worse to have his car vandalized."I really felt I kept it in good condition until the very end and now that it's here, it's been real interesting," Goodwin, the general manager of Furniture Deals in Overland Park, said.Interesting is only one way to describe it when Goodwin's bosses told him they were going to detail his company car ahead of the lease turn-in. Instead, they turned his car into an ice cream mobile. It was a prank complete with all the stickers and sounds of an ice cream truck. The children's songs run nonstop, playing over and over, mile after mile, every time the car is turned on."I pretty much just listen to news radio as loud as I can inside the car because I'm so tired of 'It's A Small World After All,'" Goodwin said.Instead of melting down, Goodwin said he has taken it all in stride. In fact, he said he kind of likes a new identity -- from general manager to ice cream peddler."Now this is how you build employee morale," Goodwin said as he served ice cream from his back seat.Goodwin said he's a popular man at work and on area roads."I have people rolling down their windows sometimes, singing along with the music, waving cash wondering if I can help them pass the time while on the freeway," Goodwin said.On hot days, he said he tries his best to keep a cooler stocked, but some treats are just more popular than others."I've got a couple things that've been sold out -- the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just didn't last," Goodwin said. "They just flew out the window."By the end of the week, Goodwin will have to turn the car in fully repaired and his gig as an ice cream man will be over. But if anything, Goodwin has showed how to turn office hijinks into something sweet.
