A former western Missouri police officer who is serving prison time in Kansas for selling drugs is now charged with stealing the drugs from his former employer.

Kyle Zumbrunn was charged in Platte County on Tuesday with stealing drugs from the Weston, Mo., Police Department's evidence room. The 27-year-old previously pleaded guilty in Kansas to distribution of a controlled substance after selling 80 pills to an undercover Kansas Bureau of Investigation agent in September.

Platte County prosecutor Eric Zahnd says an inventory of the Weston department's evidence room revealed 28 morphine pills, 45 Oxycodone pills and 37 morphine sulfate pills were missing.

Zumbrunn currently is serving a 16-month sentence at Lansing Correctional Facility in Kansas.
