Bad Weather Keeps Some Drivers Off Roads

While most people don't like to drive when the weather or roads are bad, one organization said that's when it needs help the most.

Meals on Wheels in Liberty is looking for experienced drivers to volunteer to help deliver hot meals when their clients need them the most.

This year, they have 60 homes to deliver to on weekdays, but they have only about half of the volunteers that are needed.

"Some people just don't have the ability with their cars to drive in the bad weather," said coordinator Diane Mead said. "We do have those with trucks that will come out in bad weather on an as-needed basis. The weather does have an effect on how many people we get."

Persons interested in volunteering should call Liberty City Hall at 816-439-4398. Both Liberty and Kearney are looking for volunteers.
