Snowfall Should Begin Overnight Sunday

Kansas City officials are asking residents to refrain from parking on city streets on Monday through Wednesday to aid with snow removal efforts.

Snow was expected to start falling overnight on Sunday and last through midday on Monday with a chance of blowing snow.

Snow removal crews assigned to arterial and primary streets are on standby to report for work on Sunday evening. The crews assigned to residential streets are on standby to begin plowing at 6 a.m. Monday.

The City's snow and ice plan calls for keeping primary and arterial streets open for traffic. Crews plow curb to curb on these streets and work around the clock to apply salt and remove snow.

On residential streets, the plan calls for only plowing a passable lane. Crews assigned to residential streets apply salt on intersections, hills and curves and plow as needed.
