Families In Need Get Cars Through Program

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An early Christmas came for 25 families Monday morning as donated cars were given away to those in need.The annual Cars For Christmas program organizers handed out the cars at Harrah's Casino.The program got a kick-start last week when 18-year-old Robert Williams received a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. Williams' co-workers at Ryan Lawn and Tree nominated him to get the new car.Cars For Christmas is a nonprofit organization that receives over 20,000 requests every year and gives cars away all year long.Monday marks one of the biggest giving days of the year for the organization. Several families had to wipe away tears as they stuck their key in the ignition of their cars for the first time.
