Police Say 7 Others May Have Been Victims

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- A woman said she fell for 34-year-old Ryan Blevins, a man police said preys on single woman in order to scam them out of their hard-earned money."I was shocked," said the woman, who asked not to be identified. "He told me he wanted to start a relationship -- to know my kid -- to date one year and marry me."The woman said she met Blevins through a softball team over the summer. She said he told her he would help her with her swing.She said the day after Thanksgiving Blevins called and said he had been arrested. He told her to cash a relative's check for $3,800."I put money in the bank and gave him the case and didn't see him again," she said.Blue Springs police said as many as seven other women have reported similar stories involving Blevins and they believe there are more victims who have not come forward."He's not a murderer or anything, but he killed me financially," the woman said.Federal authorities arrested Blevins and he remains in custody."Rot in jail," was the woman's sentiment for Blevins.The bank has given the woman 20 days to come up with the $3,800 or the bill will be sent to a collections agency. In the meantime, the Blue Springs police are asking anyone else who was a victim of a similar scam to call police at 816-655-0350.
