Washington said the two talked regularly over the phone and the man sent her $500 for her to fly to Kansas City."I was very excited -- flying for the first time, the trip, meeting a guy I thought was sincere," Washington said.Washington said that the man urged her to be trustworthy."He counted on me to be trustworthy," Washington said. "I counted on him to be trustworthy."When Washington arrived, she said she got a rental car and a hotel room. From Friday to Monday, Washington said the man showed her the town. They went to dinner and the movies and Washington said everything was going well."Monday night it fell apart," Washington said. "I went to sleep. When I woke up, he was gone. The car was gone. The room key, gone."Eventually, police found the car and tracked down the man. Tuesday morning, the man was arrested. Police called to let her know he was in custody and that's when she learned she might not be the only person the man has done this to."They said 'You are very lucky, he's done this on two occasions," Washington said. The man is being held in Johnson County jail for felony theft for taking the rental car, but has not been officially charged yet. Washington flew back to Charlotte Tuesday night.
