Construction Worker Dies After Morning Crash
No Charges Filed Yet In Incident

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- The Infra Source employee who was critically injured in a crash Tuesday morning has died.The crash happened at about 8 a.m. near U.S. 24 Highway and Missouri 291 Highway. Authorities have identified him as a 29-year-old Kansas City, Mo., resident.The other Infra Source employee who was injured in the same wreck has been identified as a 32-year-old Belton, Mo., man. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.Police identified the driver of the van that struck the workers as a 68-year-old Independence, Mo., resident.Police said the driver was distracted while drinking coffee and driving the van.Police said the results of the investigation of the crash will be presented to the prosecutor's office to determine if charges should be filed. Officials said this is the 10th fatal crash in Independence in 2009, compared with 12 in 2008.
