KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A pregnant woman was shot and killed and her boyfriend was seriously injured in a shooting in the 1300 block of East Armour Boulevard late Friday afternoon.

KCTV5's Bonyen Lee is reporting that 25-year-old Ashley Thomas was killed in the double shooting. Her 19-year-old boyfriend was also injured in the shooting.

Police said the woman was shot in the head as she sat in a car near her apartment. The victim's mother said Thomas was 9 months pregnant. Police said Thomas was rushed to the hospital where emergency crews worked to save the baby, but were unsuccessful.

KCTV5's Matt Stewart reported earlier that the two victims were found inside a car near Armour and Tracy Avenue at around 5:20 p.m.

Police said two men were seen leaving the scene and headed northeast. There is no word on a motive for the shooting.
