Kansas City metro area "Twilight" fans showed up to numerous midnight showings of "New Moon" early Friday morning.

Most coming out of the showings who KCTV5 talked to said they loved it.

Plenty of those attending the midnight showings said they had to go to work and school Friday morning, but also said they couldn't miss the chance to be the first to see the second movie in the "Twilight" series.

"It's a love story," Julie Smart said. "You think vampires, but it's a story for everybody. It's really fun."

"We were just excited, so we thought we would make a night of it," Amy Scassellati said.

Scassellati said she had to be at school at 7:45 a.m. Friday. Scassellati and Moore saw the movie at the AMC Ward Parkway theaters.

There are four "Twilight" books and there are plans to make all of the books into movies. The books have became extremely popular with teenage girls first, but the popularity has moved across the age and gender spectrum.

Most theaters in the metro have geared up with plenty of showings of the movie. Cinemark Merriam said it has 14 showings planned, beginning at 10 a.m.
