New charges have been filed against three of the six Mohler family members accused in a Lafayette County sex crimes against children case.

New charges were filed by prosecutors in Lafayette County on Thursday, including eight charges against Burrell Mohler Sr. The 11 new charges, which stem from about 1986, include allegations of rape and bestiality.

The new charges came after police interviewed a 28-year-old woman who said she was one of the six children on the family farm who were being sexually abused by the men for several years in the '80s.

New charges against the Mohlers are the following:
  • Jared Leroy Mohler, one count of felony use of a child in a sexual performance.
  • Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., one count rape, one count of felony use of a child in a sexual performance.
  • Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., five counts of rape, one count of sodomy, and two counts of felony use of a child in a sexual performance.

Also new today, court documents revealed that some of the victims tried to escape the family farm but were captured. Three of the girls attempted to run away to a neighbor's house for help but were brought back home and court documents said their punishment was to watch the men sexually abuse one of the other children.
