LENEXA, Kan. -- A Lenexa woman said she is still shaken up after being an attacked in a shopping center parking lot, but thankful for those who helped her.The woman, who asked that her identity be hidden, was attacked around 5:15 p.m. Monday at the strip center at 87th Street and Lackman Road."I jumped out of my car and he approached me quickly," the woman said. The woman was confronted by a man who had a knife in his hands. The man attempted to carjack the woman, but she said she fought back."It was just a blur," the woman said. "I just started screaming for help."Julia Gieringer is a hair stylist at a nearby salon and said she had just finished an appointment when she heard the woman's screams."I looked outside and seen a lady being attacked," Gieringer said.Gieringer said when she saw what was happening, she and two of her customers ran to help. Gieringer said she called 911, then rushed to the victim's side."She was shaken up," Gieringer said.Gieringer said more people stepped in to help and they held the suspect until police arrived.Lenexa police arrested 30-year-old David Ward and police said his capture brought an end to a crime spree across Johnson County.Lenexa police said they determined Ward was a robbery suspect in several other recent armed robberies in Olathe.Lenexa police also said they determined Ward had also approached a woman at a nearby bank. A bank employee who got off work, said she felt like she was being followed. Police said she got in her car and locked her door, but Ward asked for directions and then a ride. The bank employee was able to drive away, but called a coworker inside the bank and then called police."It's good he was caught at scene, to stop more people from getting hurt," the attacked woman said.
