Officials have identified Ryan Goodman, 35, of Lee's Summit, Mo., as the man who died in a construction accident at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts work site on Tuesday.

Shane Wegener from Grain Valley, Mo., is in serious but stable condition at an area hospital, officials said.

The accident happened at about 1:40 p.m. when two men were working in the bucket of a cherry picker crane when it tipped over, police spokesman Darin Snapp said. OSHA representatives were on the scene Tuesday night investigating why the lift toppled over.

Construction on the 13-acre site began in 2006 and is scheduled to be finished in 2011. The $400 million center will be the home of the Kansas City Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and the Kansas City Ballet.
