A job fair by an Illinois company may offer some hope to Kansas City American Airlines employees who recently found out the local base will close.

American Airlines announced in late October that it would close its local overhaul base at the Kansas City airport and now 500 employees are already looking for a new places to work.

AAR Corporation will hold a free job fair Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites, 7640 N.W. Tiffany Springs Parkway, near the Kansas City airport.

The job fair may offer hope to those American Airlines workers who recently got grim news of their employment future, with the overhaul base closing its doors for good in September 2010.

AAR is based in Chicago and is looking to hire more 100 aircraft repair professionals. A company official said the business is looking to hire the mechanics immediately.
