RIVERSIDE, Mo. -- The Missouri Riverfront Trail can be beautiful, but there is currently no quick way for a person to pinpoint where they are in case of trouble. That's all about to change thanks to a technological upgrade that will be the first of its kind in Missouri. It's called "trail mapping" and it will use GPS technology to help keep trail users safe. The 3.5-mile trail will be marked with signs -- much like highway mile markers -- that use GPS coordinates to pinpoint exactly where someone is located in case of an emergency. The trail currently has a few phones scattered along the way and personal cell phones do have GPS tags. The trail supervisor told KCTV5's Shaun Broyls that they will be putting up 10 of the signs along the trail in the next few weeks.
