An assistant district attorney in Johnson County was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from an Overland Park grocery store Sunday.

Roger Nordeen is accused of stealing around $40 in merchandise, which included liquid bandages and deodorant, from the Price Chopper at 135th Street and Quivira Road.

Nordeen has been a member of the district attorney's office, signing the recent murder charges against three boys in the killing of teen girl Keighley Alyea.

Johnson Count District attorney Steve Howe confirmed one of his staff members is being investigated, but because it is a personnel matter, said he could not comment further.

KCTV5's Amy Anderson stopped by Nordeen's Olathe house Tuesday night, but nobody answered the door. Nordeen also did not return calls.

Nordeen has worked for the county for year, and has even taught a class called "elements of crime" at the Johnson County Regional Police Academy during the summer.

Nordeen is is married with children and plays in a band in his spare time.

Several people said they did not want to talk on camera, but describe Nordeen as a "great guy" and said they are shocked at the charges.
