A fire burned an Olathe house killing a man and also prompted an oxygen tank to explode.

Fire crews rushed to a house on North Jan-Mar Drive near East Elizabeth Street around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Fire officials said the oxygen tank belonged to a 75-year-old and the man was smoking a cigarette when the tank exploded.

The man was burned on 98 percent of his body and died later Saturday night at the University of Kansas hospital. His 60-year-old wife and a firefighter were treated for smoke inhalation.
