LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- A Leavenworth mother faces charges for her role in the death of her 4-year-old son.

Monica Rivera was charged on Friday with aggravated endangerment of a child.

Gabe Rivera died at a Leavenworth hospital earlier this month. Doctors suspect he was severely abused.

The mother's boyfriend, Jason Jones, was watching the boy at the time, police said. Jones has been charged with murder.
