WEB BUZZ: T-Mobile Loses Fans, Chiefs Gain
Users of the T-Mobile Sidekick lost most of their personal information off of their phones this week and the talk online about the company shows the negative feelings about T-Mobile.Through KCTV5's exclusive partnership with Johnson County-based Web monitoring company Spiral 16, data shows a majority of talk online about the T-Mobile Sidekick is negative.Data from Spiral 16's software Spark, shows that the 57.78 percent of the talk was negative, 27.22 percent was neutral and just 15 percent was positive.News sites made up 37 percent of the URLs about the T-Mobile Sidekick, whole 33 percent came from blogs and 26.3 percent came from social media like Twitter or Facebook.Data shows that celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was very influential online about the T-Mobile Sidekick after his Sidekick was one of the phones that lost personal data.While the T-Mobile Sidekick may lose fans, the Kansas City Chiefs managed to gain in positive sentiment on the Web, despite losing 26-20 to the Dallas Cowboys in overtime.The Chiefs saw a 16.21 percent jump in the positive talk about their team online in the days following their loss, jumping to 44.37 positive. The team had hovered around 28 percent positive talk in the two prior weeks.Much of the new positive sentiment comes from a reduction in neutral talk. After week five 29.2 percent of the talk was neutral and 26.44 was negative.The most influential site on the Web about the Chiefs continues to be the Arrowhead Pride blog. The site had the top three influential stories from Oct. 11-13.
