Judge Allows Time For Defense To Examine Body

The funeral for a 4-year-old boy has been postponed for a week to allow more time for a private medical examination of the body.

A Leavenworth judge has granted a motion for the delay to allow the defense more time to examine Gabriel Rivera's body. Jason Lee Jones has been charged with murder and child abuse in the boy's death last weekend.

Jones, who is the boyfriend of the child's mother, was the care provider for the boy when the incident occurred, police said. She was not home at the time.

Jones's father said he was told the boy fell down the stairs. Rivera was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and later died.
