Neighbors Talk About 4-Year-Old’s Death

No Charge Yet Against Child’s Care Giver

KCTV5 continues to find out more from neighbors about a man arrested in connection with the death of a 4-year-old boy.

Neighbors said Leavenworth police were at the house in the 3800 block of Tonganoxie Road for hours on Sunday. Police said a 4-year-old was taken to the hospital at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said doctors said the boy's injuries did not match the explanation that was given by the parents. Police, however, would not elaborate on what type of injuries the doctors observed.

The child died at the hospital and police arrested the mother's live-in boyfriend, who was also the child's care giver at the time of the incident.

The boyfriend was arrested after the child's death, but he has not been charged.

The boy's mother left the Leavenworth Justice Center late Monday morning, but did not wish to speak with the media. The father of the boyfriend said police have rushed to judgment by arresting his son.
