KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A young boy has been taken to an area hospital after a family dog attacked him late Wednesday afternoon at his home near 34th Street and Brooklyn Avenue.

Neighbors said one of two rottweilers owned by the family attacked the boy, who is believed to be 6 or 7 years old, shortly after he got home from school. The boy's sister was reportedly the one who was able to get the dog off of the boy.

Firefighters said the boy's injuries looked bad, but he was conscious when they took him to the hospital.
