Prairie Village police are investigating a rash of robberies in a 10-block area of the city in the past two weeks.

Police said robbers have targeted an area around 75th Street and State Line Road, breaking into and robbing 10 houses.

Craig Stanke and Ryan Chance are two of the homeowners who have been hit by the robbers.

"I came home around 10:30 and I noticed the front door wide open with all lights on in the house," Stanke said.

"They took laptops, a flat-panel TV and that’s about it," Chance said. "They kicked in the front door."

Prairie Village police said most of the robberies have taken place during the evening hours of the past two weekends.

"It's a very big concern," Prairie Village Police Department Capt. Wes Levett said.

Prairie Village police said they are working the Kansas City, Mo., police, who have also seen a rise in robberies along State Line Road.

For Stanke, the worry about his home being robbed again is fresh in his mind.

"Every time I come home at night, I always wonder if I’m going to see my front door wide open again," Stanke said.
