The Kansas City, Kan., bomb squad was investigating a home filled with possible military explosives where a man was found dead on Friday morning.

Police got a call reporting the dead body at about 11:30 a.m. Authorities said they think the man took his own life.

Family members described the man as an avid collector of military items. There was enough concern that the police brought in the bomb squad and evacuated the neighborhood.

"We've advised neighbors to stay inside," said Sgt. Emmett Lockridge, of the Kansas City Police Department. "We don't believe that there is a threat of an entire neighborhood being in danger."

Police were continuing their investigation late in the afternoon on Friday.
