Thieves Target Birthday Cash, Police Say

No Arrests Made Yet In Case Of Kids’ Missing Money

Children's birthday cash was the target of thieves earlier this week, police said.

Officers said someone broke into a home in south Kansas City, Mo., and ransacked the children's bedrooms. The thieves ripped on the 9-year-old's drawers looking for cash. They wound up taking money from a Spider-Man wallet and from a Bratz wallet owned by the kids.

The crooks stole $180 in birthday money from the children, plus a plasma television, video games and a gun.

"My daughter cried," the homeowner said. "They had things they planned on buying with the money. To have it stolen from them -- to steal from a kid period -- is ridiculous."

No arrests have been made. Police ask that anyone with information in the case should call the Crime Stoppers TIPS Hot Line at 816-474-TIPS (8477), text TIP452 plus a message to CRIMES (274637) or submit a tip online at kccrimestoppers.com.
