GARDNER, Kan. -- A man accused of shooting his estranged wife to death in Fairway in June is back in Kansas.

Franklin Grammer Jr. was brought back from California this week and taken to the Johnson County jail.

Grammer is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Betty Jo Grammer earlier this month.

Betty Jo was painting a friend's house in Fairway when she was shot. Police said Franklin has been on the run since the shooting.

Police found him at a motel in Santa Clarita, Calif.

Franklin is being held on $1 million bond.
