A home invasion at 1 a.m. Thursday in the 400 Block of North Colorado left one man shot in the legs and and a house filled with children burglarized.

Kansas City police said the resident reported a sound coming from the front door and soon after, the male resident of the home was shot in each leg. Police said the robbers continued to comb the house, before eventually running from the house.

The man shot is expected to recover from the gunshots.

The other adults and several children inside the house were not hurt during the robbery. The children range in ages from five months to 9 years old.

Kansas City police searched the surrounding neighborhood following the robbery, but have not located the robbers.
