A charge filed Wednesday showed the background of a man who ended up dead after a police standoff in Adrian, Mo.

Police had been looking for Douglas Miller under one of his aliases, Hugh Brown, on three counts of assaulting an officer. Court documents show Miller had warrants from Illinois and Florida dating back to 1983, including an attempted murder charge.

An attempt to serve an arrest warrant at County Road 4501 turned into a 5-hour standoff Sunday after a state trooper was shot.

Neighbor Tonya Loper said although the standoff concerned her, there were no red flags at the house.

"It freaked me out," Loper said. "You can't trust anybody. They looked like a normal couple. You'd have had no idea."

Inside the house, Adrian police said they found a marijuana grow operation with 11 plants.

Fingerprints revealed Brown and Miller are the same person.

A trooper who was shot in the standoff was protected by his bullet-proof vest.

Nicki Lynn, who lived with Miller was arrested Sunday, accused of hindering prosecution of a felon. On Wednesday police added a charge of manufacturing a controlled substance to the charges against Lynn, based on evidence found in March. Her bond is currently set at $30,000.

"I'm glad its over with, glad they're gone," Loper said.

Neighbors say the pair told them they'd been a couple for 20 years.
