In Miami County, Kan., police said strong winds damaged the roof of Fontana Elementary School.

High winds overnight peeled back some of the roof and left twisted metal on top of the building in this city of 150 people located southeast of Osawatomie.

Straight-line wind damage from overnight storms left a path of destruction from Beagle, Kan., eastward to Fontana, Kan., and on into the cities of Drexel and Adrian, Mo.
