A standoff ended just after 3:30 p.m. at an Odessa gas station, leaving two people confirmed dead.

A gunman was holed up inside the gas station, taking shots at police, officers said. Police have confirmed two people were killed in the shootout.

Odessa police said the owner of the Odessa BP gas station, Nurali B. Bhimani, 28, was fatally shot by the gunman, a family member named Nasruddin N. Dhanani.

Dhanani was also found dead at the scene.

The standoff lasted about an hour, police said. Police Chief Bob Kinder said in a phone interview that officers didn't discharge their weapons.

Police blocked off streets around the gas station on North Second Street just off Interstate 70 during the standoff and investigation.
