ROELAND PARK, Kan. -- A local recipe is creating quite a buzz on the Internet.

Jason Day, of Roeland Park, and Aaron Chronister, of Kansas City, came up with the recipe for Bacon Explosion.

The Bacon Explosion is made up of two pounds of bacon and two pounds of sausage, slathered in barbecue sauce. It has at least 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat, said the two men, who are members of the competitive barbecue team Burnt Finger BBQ.

The New York Times featured an article on the recipe on Tuesday, extolling the popularity of the decadent meat treat that its inventors call "the BBQ Sausage Recipe of all Recipes."
