Sheriff's deputies are often the first to respond to the scene of a burning vehicle on the road, and on Thursday, they trained on using a new tool that will help them on the job.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department bought 120 "cold fire extinguishers" that will help them get to a person trapped in a burning vehicle quicker and safer than before.

The extinguishers are non-toxic and biodegradable, making them environmentally friendly, as well.

The new equipment cost just over $37,000.
