The wait for downtown residents ended at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Cosentino's Market Downtown opened at 10 E. 13th St.

The new store has an 83-foot salad bar, a fresh sushi bar and a gourmet cheese island.

For people living or working downtown the convenience of a local grocery store is the biggest feature.

"We've been waiting for it for a long time because there's no grocery store downtown," said Olive Wilhelm. "There's a bus that takes us to the store up north but sometimes only once a month and you need things otherwise."

The store will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. There is a three-hour parking validation upon checkout.

The prices at the store are not higher than at the company's other stores, said John Cosentino. They compared prices from their other stores to set the downtown prices, he said.
