KANSAS CITY, Mo -- A mother and her 12-year-old son were injured when they fought back against a purse snatcher."I'm tired of mean people," said Jennifer Harris, who'd had her purse stolen before. "Why does everybody have to be so mean?"During the weekend, Harris and her son were at the 7-Eleven at 89th and Wornall. She was in line waiting to cash in a $10 winning lottery ticket when another man standing in line grabbed her purse with her disability money inside, she said.Harris and her son chased after the man, she said."The robber came around and grabbed a hold of my son and put a knife up to his throat, and so I started kicking him, and my son was punching him, and he punched my son back, gave him a black eye, cut his throat in one place and his hands," Harris said. "Thank God his wounds are fairly superficial."The man stabbed Harris in the arm several times using a crack pipe as he and a woman tried to drive away, she said."Once it was over, it was terrifying, but I wasn't going to let someone get away with my stuff again," Harris said.Police arrested Kimberly M. Watts, 46, at the scene. They found Raymond R. Graves, 36, hiding in a closet in an apartment.Prosecutors charged Graves and Watts with armed criminal action."I don't know how we'll pay our bills or get groceries, but we have the satisfaction of knowing that the police caught him," Harris said.
